Dear STU Community,

St. Thomas University was recently informed of a security incident at Blackbaud that may have involved information we maintain about you in our electronic records. Blackbaud, a leading provider of cloud software and data management resources, is a third-party vendor with which STU contracts. Blackbaud’s products are widely used by colleges, universities, and other nonprofit organizations for fundraising and alumni engagement purposes.

It’s important to note that the cybercriminal did not access any credit card information, bank account information, or social security numbers. However, we have determined that the file accessed may have contained your contact information, date of birth, demographic information, and a record of your relationship with STU, including your giving history. You can learn more about the incident by visiting http://blackbaud.com/securityincident

Despite the fact that Blackbaud’s security incident was extremely low risk for any data exposure, as a best practice, we recommend you remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity or suspected identity theft to the proper law enforcement authorities.

Please be assured that the security and privacy of our community’s data is a top priority for us at St. Thomas University, and we will continue to monitor this situation, providing updates as necessary. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at rhoffman@stu.edu.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Robyn S. Hoffman
Vice President of Philanthropy
